Crop Rotation

Description

Crop Rotation: as its name suggests, is a method of planting different types of crops, such as grains and legumes in sequential seasons in the same field. When the correct crop combinations are used for the right soil types, crop rotation maintains soil productivity and may require fewer fertilizer or pesticide inputs in the future. This Table is an example of a simple crop rotation schedule for a field.

Sample Lease Provision: Tenant shall maintain the crop rotation schedule in this lease as may be amended from time to time. The schedule shall account for nutrient levels in the soil and how crops will impact these levels. The schedule shall also consider previously used herbicides or pesticides and the potential impact on new crop plantings. Landowner and Tenant shall review the crop rotation schedule every three years to ensure it meets the conservation goals established in this lease.
